There have been many questions about whether you can be an employee of your own limited company and whether, as a sole director, you can furlough yourself under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.
I have written this article to explain my opinion but, technically, a sole director could furlough themselves but, only if they were able to be an employee of their own limited company in the first place.
HM Treasury have stated that you may be able to claim under the JRS but, it would only be for the PAYE salary element of the director's income. There has been no official announcement as yet on this (as at 31 March 2020).
